I'm back from the Cape, readers!
I'm not what you would call a beach person. I like to swim in the ocean and I enjoy a rough surf, but I can't handle the sun, hate applying sunblock, and the sand -- yuck. So even though we had glorious weather, we went to the beach to swim/sun only once. The water was cold and the surf nil. I wore one of my me-made bathing suits.
Still, I ran along the beach (Provincetown is a marvelous place to go running) most mornings and we walked the dogs on the bay daily.
As required, we ate lobster at the famous Lobster Pot restaurant. (Well, I ate lobster, Michael ate sole.) It never disappoints.
We rented what must be the smallest house in Provincetown: literally one room with a bathroom carved out of it. The house looks directly onto the main drag, Commercial Street, so instead of watching TV, we just drew the blinds and watched the world go by.
As I mentioned, we had magnificent weather: sunny skies, low humidity, mid 70's the entire time. If there was (is) a downside to Provincetown, it's the long drive from NYC -- easily 6 hours with no traffic, but there's no alternative if you're traveling with dogs.
As fun as it was, I am always glad to return to my sewing machines. And I have two new patterns on the way I'm excited about.
First, I want to try making one of those 70's style cotton/nylon lined parkas.
I picked up this Daisy Kingdom pattern, which looks like just the thing (I also considered a nearly identical Green Pepper pattern).
And yesterday I won this vintage Don Loper cocktail dress pattern and coat on eBay. I love when a dress pattern includes a coat, don't you? Cathy simply adores Don Loper!
