Friends, thank you so much for your many words of sympathy regarding Michael's mother. They mean a great deal to us.
It is time for me to return to sewing. Having finished my 1920's cotton lawn kimono, next up were the pajamas, using the vintage Butterick pattern I found this summer at the Chelsea Flea Market (see pic above).
Remember how I'd decided to buy different fabric than I'd originally intended: that lilac-colored dotted swiss and the Moorish-style print?
I made the pajama bottoms in the lavender, and the color just didn't look right -- too bright. So I went back to the fabric store again and picked up more of the -- what would you call it, deep mauve? Dark raspberry? -- and returned to my original palette.
I'm using the coffee-colored tan for the trim.
I love the way these muted colors look together.
In the notions section of Mood, I found this heavy gold rope -- perfect for the pajama belt!
The pattern is very well-drafted and, since the original instructions are missing, I'm glad the construction was straightforward.
Can we pull off a photo shoot in the next few days? If I can get that cousin of mine to do a little less twerking and a little more working, we just might.
