I FINALLY finished my mother's cotton pique robe!
The fabric was from a winter sale at Paron's; very thick and soft.

I'd rate the experience of sewing this robe somewhere between "deadly dull" and "stultifying." That's why it took me a month to complete. But I knew I'd be seeing my mother today -- her birthday -- and I wanted to be able to give it to her.
She liked it. (And it fit her nicely.)
Naturally I'd tried it on too.

She arrived carrying a linen top she'd picked up at Marshall's that needed shortening. I think her exact words were, "You have to alter this top I bought." (Oh, do I?, I thought but didn't say.)
The top was pretty but way too long for a shrinking petite. I took off 3".

These are the "after" shots -- the "before" was similar, just 3" longer.

Alterations are truly tedious.

I also took her out to lunch and then shopping at Whole Foods. I think I fulfilled my filial duty.
And now it's nap time.
Have a great day, everybody!
