Gearing Up for The Next Big Thing

Friends, I played hookey yesterday: I went to the beach at Fire Island with my friend Nora.

We swam, sunned, ate raw shellfish, and had a lovely chihuahua-free day on Watch Hill.

I've hardly touched a sewing machine this week as I am still recovering from my suit project.  But I'm definitely thinking about what's next.

As always, I find myself rethinking some of my original ideas.

I've mentioned a number of times my intention to make a jumpsuit/coveralls this summer.  I bought this gray cotton fabric last month with that in mind.

My inspiration:

But now I'm thinking -- are you sitting down? --  of making another suit!  I was so pleased my navy suit that think I'd like a gray one, and since the project is fresh in my mind, I can tweek a few things I wish I'd done differently: minor things, but still.

Could you stand reading about another suit so soon?

In other news, there's going to be a new camera in my life shortly (like, today).  Nothing wrong with the old camera (a Canon EOS Rebel XT) -- a fine DSLR camera.  The new camera (a Canon EOS Rebel T3i -- just the body, not the lens) is simply an upgrade with HD video capability.  Always exciting even if it means having to sell the old one to afford it.

And that's it.  I'm a little lobster-y today so I'm mostly staying indoors and recovering.  I love the beach and swimming in the ocean but an entire day in the sun is a lot for me these days.

Have a great day, everybody!
